 Bill Wang

Bill Wang currently holds multiple titles and positions, including Senior Middle School Teacher, Head of Middle School, Representative of the District People’s Congress, Leader of the District Math Subject, Leader of the 3rd, 4th and 5th Class Teachers’ Workshops, Member of the Elementary Education Committee of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), and Part-time Researcher with the Xiehe Education Group.

Bill has been honoured with a variety of awards, including the DPP’s National Advanced Individual award for promoting ideological work, the Shanghai Gardeners award, the Shanghai Outstanding Tutor award, the Shanghai Outstanding Moral Education Worker in Private Primary and Secondary Schools award, and multiple SUIS Outstanding Teacher Virtues awards. Without exception, every class he has taught has been awarded the Shanghai Outstanding Classroom Group. The series of “Leveled Bilingual Exercise Books for Middle School Mathematics”, edited by Bill, has been published by Shanghai Education Press. His educational and teaching articles on topics such as class building work have been reported by the Shanghai Education News, Xinmin Evening News, Bund Education and other media.

Since joining SUIS in August 2006, Bill has always been on the front lines of education, adhering to the educational philosophy of “There is no perfect individual, only a perfect team” and diligently working with colleagues to achieve success for students.

As a Math Teacher

Bill cares for his students and consistently maintains teaching excellence. He is passionate in the classroom and attaches importance to the cultivation of students’ interest in mathematics, teaching according to students’ aptitudes and differentiating his instruction accordingly. He is adept at linking mathematics with other subjects such as physics and art so as to promote a deeper understanding of mathematics in students’ everyday lives, and he is very skilled at revealing the truth, goodness and beauty of mathematics in order to inspire his students.

 

As a Tutor

Bill focuses on cultivating and creating a warm and welcoming classroom, paying attention to students’ self-management skills and their personalized development, and creating engaging learning activities. He has always adhered to the philosophy of ‘making students happy with my presence’. He focuses on developing students’ ability to reflect and think critically, establishing class blogs and using professional software to record students’ growth and to enlighten them about the awareness of Internet+. He is adept at using the social resources available to us, often leading students to major museums to broaden their horizons, guiding them as they explore the unknown and improving their social practices and innovation skills. He is skilled at carrying out various innovative school-family interactions in order to create educational synergy and to help students grow up healthily and happily.

 

As the Leader of the District

Tutors’ Workshop

The Tutors’ Workshop is a platform for the professional development of tutors with relatively little experience. Whether the purpose is for theoretical learning, practical support or for the writing of papers, Bill carefully designs and carries out activities so that participants will always have something new to learn. With the combined efforts of the entire team, Tutor’s Workshop has been continuously awarded as the Excellent Workshop in the district, and all participants have gained much from their experiences. Some participants have been awarded as Excellent Tutors in Shanghai, some have become deputy headmasters and moral education directors in schools, and some have become teaching researchers in the district.

Bill’s development has been achieved not only through his own efforts, but also through his schools’ platforms and the support and trust of his students, parents and colleagues! Let us now consider Bill through their perspectives.
