In May, the pomegranate blossoms shine brightly in the eyes, and the seeds are beginning to grow between the branches. With the arrival of early summer, the sun shines brightly, greenery thrives, birds sing, and flowers are fragrant. Recently, we welcomed the 13th Artistic Performing Corner. This was an artistic feast with Shanghai cultural characteristics, featuring performances all by our school’s students. Let’s appreciate and witness their artistic talent and growth.
Music Performances
Young musicians took to the stage! They brought us melodious piano performances, excellent drum shows, graceful dances, and the performances of traditional Chinese instruments like the Guzheng and the bamboo flute. This auditory feast showcased the diverse talents of children from Grades 1 to 5. Their performance levels were distinct, and they had different characteristics, from puerile innocence to skilled playing, showcasing the transformation of their growth. From their sparkling eyes, we could see the limitless, attractive future!
The young artists from Grades 1, 2 and 3 brought us unique and exquisite artworks. From a child’s perspective, they used painting to express their colourful inner worlds. From the moment they were first exposed to art, when they picked up paint and spilled it freely, to when they gradually mastered their painting skills through unremitting efforts, finally presenting terrific and beautiful paintings. Art gave wings to the world of their childhood imagination, letting them ride freely in the sky of art. In their artworks, we saw the pure and tender childlike innocence, childlike interest, the endless imagination, love and hope for art.
Special Performances
Our two outstanding school teams presented this APC’s special performances.
First, we were gifted a performance by the SUIS Qingpu Orchestra, a young and vibrant ensemble that constantly challenges itself by performing international music. They performed the piece “Gipsy Overture,” based on a collection of Russian Gipsy melodies, bringing the audience a feast of hearing and letting everyone appreciate foreign music culture.
Representing the Orchestra in their Camera Ensemble Project, three students performed Saint Saëns’s piece “Fossils” in an arrangement for the marimba and piano.
The Qing Ying dance school team then finished the show with a breathtaking performance. This team, renowned for its district achievements, is a testament to the passion and talent of our young dancers. In their “Water Rhyme Whirling” performance, they embodied the grace and agility of water nymphs, captivating the audience and transporting them into a mesmerizing water world.
