The autumn sky is high and clear; the autumn wind fresh and cool; the colours of autumn are many and magnificent. With the scent of autumn in the air, on 23 October, 2023, SUIS Qingpu held its 5th Pioneers’ Representative Conference. This conference aimed to further strengthen the grassroots organization of the school’s Pioneer group and enhance the sense of honour and duty among Pioneer members.
Our school’s Principal, Ms. Sunny Huang, Co-Principal Dr. Adam Neufield, Assistant Principal Ms. Helen Liu, Secretary of CPC Branch Ms. Cindy Zhang, Department leaders and representatives from various Pioneer units attended the conference, witnessing this solemn and sacred event. Pioneer representatives presented red scarves to the attending leaders, showing their highest respect.
Flag-Raising
The opening ceremony began with the national anthem, accompanied by a dignified flag-raising ceremony. Flag bearers carried the flags into the venue with steady steps, and the Pioneers sang loudly, expressing their love and longing for the Pioneers organization and its glorious traditions.
Principal’s Speech and New Hopes
Principal Ms.Sunny Huang then delivered a speech, first emphasizing that the successful holding of the Pioneers’ Conference is not only a significant event for the school but also a crucial event for the Pioneers themselves. She also mentioned the school’s vision: “The future of education, in service to the world” and the school’s mission: “SUIS Qingpu students strive for academic excellence, act with integrity and exhibit the highest moral values, as responsible and aware citizens, empowered to be future leaders, with Chinese roots and global wings.” Principal Huang encouraged the Pioneers to explore, practice boldly, and innovate with courage.
Comprehensive Work Summary with Responsibility
As a representative of the Unit Committee, Harvey Qiu from Grade 5 Unit 8 provided a work report for the past year. Under the guidance of school leaders, the Moral Education Department and the Pioneers Unit, the Unit Committee participated in the inspection and management of the school’s daily behaviour standards and assisted in organizing various activities. Looking back at the past year, the Pioneers’ work in our school has achieved new results, and Pioneers’ members have made continuous progress. It is believed that the new Unit Committee will continue to excel in Pioneers’ work.
Unit Committee Members Marching Forward Together
During the months of September and October, our school conducted a one-month preparation for the 5th Pioneers’ Representative Conference. The Pioneers Unit launched a publicity campaign for the conference, and each Pioneer unit responded to the call to allow Pioneers to elect their own leaders through democratic elections and voting. The new Unit Committee members meticulously prepared their campaign posters, showcasing their strengths.
At the conference, Ms. Mia, the Unit Committee Advisor, read out the list of the new Pioneers’ Unit Committee members, and the Unit badges were presented by school leaders. The new Unit Committee members made their solemn pledge under the Unit flag, exclaiming, “A bar, a responsibility,” symbolizing their commitment to their responsibilities.
Max Yu, from Grade 5 Unit 2 and representing the new Unit Committee members, delivered an inauguration speech. It is believed that in the new school year, the new Unit Committee members will continue to work hard and face the challenges of the new era with a youthful and vibrant spirit.
The new Unit Committee members expressed their feelings with the song “Riding the Wind, Chasing Dreams: Colourful young people embrace their dreams, grow vigorously and set sail. This red scarf inherits glory, and we aspire to reach the highest peak with courage and determination.”
Addressing Proposals, Listening to Voices
During the conference, the Pioneers provided red scarf proposals, and school leaders attached great importance to these proposals. Secretary Ms.Cindy Zhang from the Party Branch provided detailed responses to the proposals. The proposals covered various aspects, including campus culture, educational teaching, logistics support, and organizational activities, fully reflecting the Pioneers’ proactive spirit in taking charge of the school, ensuring its better development, and promoting the healthy growth of students.
The Flag’s Retreat Marked a Successful Closure
In the end, Ms. Mia , the Unit Committee Advisor, led the Pioneers in the closing ceremony. The conference concluded with the flag-lowering ceremony, marking the successful end of SUIS Qingpu’s 5th Pioneers’ Representative Conference.
This successful conference not only enhanced the Pioneers’ sense of honour and mission, but also raised the sense of responsibility and dedication among every Pioneers member. Let the young people of SUIS Qingpu soar with the wind, bravely pursuing their dreams in the light.
