Spring breezes warm the dragon, and a new semester is upon us!
Our Semester 2 Opening Ceremony began with Principals Sunny and Adam delivering their opening speeches for the new semester. Principal Sunny engaged us with a talk on Open AI and Sora, leading us into the exciting world of tomorrow, encouraging innovative thinking and emphasizing the importance of possessing a calm heart. Mr. Adam then addressed the students, starting with the keyword ‘organized’. He helped students understand that we all need to establish our own ways of staying organized. Looking onward to the new year, we hope that SUIS Qingpu students will develop their learning skills and a build a solid foundation of knowledge.

Musical rhythms, joyful voyage

With cheerful music, everyone joined in a lively dance, energetically welcoming the new semester. It’s not just the dancing feet that were bouncing, but also the nascent dreams in their hearts!
Laughter and sharing, non-stop fun
Sitting in a circle, the children eagerly shared their holiday adventures with laughter, creating a wonderful, lively atmosphere. Amidst the giggles, they also listened to interesting tidbits about the Year of the Dragon, making it both entertaining and educational.
Small goals, big directions, Let’s go go go!
Guided by the teacher, the young learners carefully drew their goals for the new semester in a Sudoku-like grid, making small pledges with a wave of their hands. Let us all move forward together in the spirit of collaborative learning.

As the new year unfolds, and late winter transitions into early spring, SUIS Qingpu’s high school division welcomed the expectations and prospects for the new year at its opening ceremony with three verses from ancient poems about the ‘dragon’.
When the dragon soars, the voice echoes eternal love and the sound of roaring water.
The past year has been about change, challenges, and perseverance, leaving behind touches of emotion, strength, and hope. The past and future aid each other, leveraging strength for a diligent journey ahead. As we look back at the Year of the Rabbit with its glorious hopes and achievements, outstanding students from each grade of the high school division stepped onto the stage one by one to receive their awards, while photographers captured these precious moments. Dragons connecting past and present herald the sounds of time, and Grade 9 student Ricky Chen along with classmate Coco Zhu gave a beautiful Guzheng performance entitled, “Floating Light,” playing an ancient tune with this unique Chinese instrument.
As 2024 begins with dragon dances in colourful raiment, what we see is the dazzling present.
Communication is an essential part of work, study, and life; it allows us to grow closer and to understand each other. Thus, learning through communication and communicating through learning is one of the essential courses in our lives. Ninth grader Prince Xu took the stage to share his thoughts on the importance of communication in life through his speech on ‘Communicative Scholars’.
At the same time, Ricky Gu, William Xiao, and Anna Huang also brought us a breathtaking musical performance called, “One Last Kiss,” where the skill of the performers on stage shone brightly as the audience immersed themselves in the music, expressing their admiration with thundering applause.
To roar like a dragon signifies a breakthrough towards the heavens. Head of Secondary Mr. David also provided a speech, sharing his understanding of the dragon and his earnest expectations for the New Year, and conveying his vision and positive energy for the Year of the Dragon. In this especially significant year for us, the warm blessings felt by everyone were heartfelt and comforting.
Throughout the opening ceremony, themed “The New Year Commences with the Dragon Making Its Grand Return,” the school conveyed its prospects for the new year, for both students and teachers. It is hoped that everyone will possess innovative thinking, planning abilities, and relentless effort in the Year of the Dragon and in a year where the era continuously advances.
