Golden wheat, and the first taste of apricots… With sickles in hand, the fields are busy with the bountiful harvest. Another Autumn season has arrived. On a crisp and golden day, the September flag-raising ceremony at SUIS Qingpu was held under the theme of ‘Celebrating the Harvest, Cherishing Food, Loving Labour’. In this season of abundance, students experience the joy of harvest, and through this flag-raising event, gained a deeper understanding of the preciousness of food and the beauty of labour.
“A gift from the Autumn winds, singing in elegant attire.”
On a pleasant Autumn Day, students put on traditional clothing and gathered on the sports field. They stood straight and proud, embodying the spirit of Chinese citizens. Bathed in the gentle Autumn breeze, they faced the direction where the national flag proudly waved, singing the national anthem in unison.
Celebrating the Harvest with Drums
As the maple leaves usher in Autumn, labour and harvest remain an unchanging tradition and source of joy for the Chinese nation. Representatives from Class 4G put on a mesmerizing Chinese drum performance entitled, “Prosperous Dragon Rising”. Their synchronized and agile movements transported us to a lively scene of celebrating a bumper harvest and national prosperity. This unique celebration was beautifully passed down by our students today.
Reaping the Fruits, Remembering Teachers’ Kindness
With the arrival of Autumn, the 15th “Outstanding Teacher Awards” ceremony recently took place at SUIS Qingpu. Among the nine incredible and dedicated teachers on stage, two outstanding teachers, Mr. Du Hangfan and Ms. Gu Liming, emerged as the final winners. The winning teachers shared their heartfelt reflections on their journey as educators and expressed their love and dedication to the teaching profession. In this golden season, teachers have worked hard to harvest their students’ love and the parents’ trust.
Songs of the Seasons, Cultivating Culture
With the Autumn equinox just behind us, students continue their exploration of traditional Chinese solar terms, combining it with lessons in labour education. Representatives from Grades 3, 4, and 5 presented a beautiful chorus of the twenty-four Solar Terms. Their youthful voices resonated beautifully, and in such an environment, we believe their love for traditional culture will continue to deepen.
The flag-raising ceremony concluded with the melodious singing by our students. We firmly believe that the students of SUIS Qingpu, nurtured by the depth of traditional culture, will explore and appreciate its unique beauty more profoundly. At the same time, traditional virtues will plant the seeds of hard work and wisdom in their hearts, silently taking root and growing stronger day by day and year after year!
