The latest SPBCN (Spelling Bee of China) International Finals ended in Hangzhou on May 18th, and Team Bolt from SUIS Qingpu took the honour of being the runner-up this year, with an impressive performance!
The Spelling Bee competition originated in the United States in 1925 and is held nationwide in May of each year in the form of an individual competition. The first team-based Spelling Bee competition, called the ITSO (International Team Spelling Olympiad), took place in 2016. It was in this competition that our students recently participated and achieved success.
The Middle School team competition includes nine types of events: Speed Spell, Letter by Letter, Guess and Spell, Show and Spell, Laser Letter, Super Words, Word Link, Mystery Sentence, and Origin Challenge. Each member of the team participates in 1 or 2 events. Each event won during the competition earns one point for the team, and the team with the most points in total wins at the end.
The contestants all shared that they gained a lot from this competition. Let us meet the members of Team Bolt so they can share their personal experiences about the competition.
本次战队中有两位连续参加两届Spelling Bee比赛的选手，去年他们摘得季军，今年更以精准的拼读挺进决赛，最终斩获亚军奖杯！今年，我们还有一名队员表示明年将继续参赛，向更高目标发起挑战。这正展现了比赛的意义—孩子们不断突破自我，用坚持与勇气完成蜕变，如同蝴蝶破茧般绽放成长的光芒！
祝贺本届的spellers们在全国总决赛的最后时刻成功入围，站到了冠亚军的舞台上。在比赛过程中学生们收获了宝贵的舞台经验以及锻炼了自己的自信心，亚军也是一个很棒的成绩！努力终究还是会有收获，我们继续加油！
This Spelling Bee is an annual competition which several million students attend. I am grateful that of those students we placed top 2 in the nation and exceeded all of our expectations.

在四分之一决赛再遇小组赛的劲敌——宁乡市碧桂园时，我们已经做好了应战准备，放手一搏。充分分析对手的弱点，我们采用了针对性的换人策略，类似“田忌赛马”，最终出奇制胜以4比3艰难赢下胜利。赛后我们大家高兴地如同争夺了冠军一样。通过这次比赛，我们学会了如何在绝境中稳定心态，自信发挥，也学会了在面对强敌时随机应变。

我很荣幸参加Spelling Bee！备赛时的反复练习、赛场上的努力与坚持，都让我快速成长；感谢对手的竞争、评委的指导，以及团队伙伴的鼓励，这场比赛不仅让我收获了知识，更让我懂得坚持的意义和团队的价值。这段经历将激励我继续探索语言魅力！未来，我将带着这份热爱，在语言的海洋里继续遨游！
这是我第一次参加SPBCN，对我来说这是一次从未有过的特殊经历。这次比赛给我留下了许多意义非凡的记忆片段但让我最印象深刻的还是上台比赛的激动瞬间。比赛时坐在自己的位置上，看着前面队友一个个耀眼的表现，由衷的喜悦伴随着心头止不住的紧张。随着一次次紧张的抢答，我们战队关关难过，关关过！最终顺利晋级到了决赛！通过这次比赛我感受到了同伴的力量，体验到了拼词的乐趣也积累了许多比赛经验。希望以后还能去参加更多的精彩赛事。

Joining the Spelling Bee team competition taught me a lot about not giving up and how great teamwork can be. In the finals, during the round of Origin Challenge, the other team had already spelled all 10 words right, so I felt a lot of pressure. I got the first word was wrong because I was super nervous. But then I told myself to just go for it, no turning back. I pushed through and got the next 8 words right. Even though we ended up losing by just two words, getting second place showed how hard we all worked together. That moment still pushes me to keep trying my best.
