Autumn is a fascinating season for harvest. It is also the perfect time for our students to feel the authentic nature and spend time experiencing the joy from farmland and cooperation. All SUIS Qingpu staff and students went to Qingpu Country Park to enjoy the beautiful autumn scenery on Oct. 23, 2019.
DALIAN LAKE
A field trip is always the happiest time for children. They enjoy themselves with their teams by chatting, sharing food, and cooperating games. They embrace with the fall in happiness, and fully enjoy the relaxation and coziness that is brought by nature. They rarely feel tired; even after walking for many kilometers day within a day!
RICE FIELD
Where did the delicious rice come from? Indeed, it is the rice from Qingxi field. Actually rice starts to grow from a seedling through natural breeding and the hard work by farmers and their help. Most of us only know about how to grow and cut rice through reading books. However, children cannot gain deeper knowledge and experience unless they discover the wonder of nature by themselves. This excursion gave students an opportunity to not only harvest rice, but also to experience the hard work and joy farmers receive in their own daily lives.
WATER FOREST
Students participated in a scenic outdoor science biology class and saw many aquatic plants that were not shown in the textbooks. This field trip has brought teachers and students back to nature and enriched their school life. Meanwhile, it strengthened the interaction between the children and the teachers, enhanced the cohesiveness and unity of the class, and promoted the children’s longing for nature. It also enhanced the children’s awareness of self and social responsibility in a public space. SUIS Qingpu believe that this event left an unforgettable memory for the children and looking forward to the next fall!
STUDENTS’ REFLECTION

It is the first field trip after I came to SUIS. In the morning after arriving at school, I took a bus to Qingxi Country Park with my new classmates. Together we went to a rice field and experienced cutting straw and picking rice. All of our classmates were very happy and experienced the fun from farming. Some students even brought their harvested rice back home and wanted to taste the fruit of their labors after their hard work. This trip was a very happy and fulfilling experience.

We went to the planting field where our daily rice comes from. It was really beautiful to see the golden ears of the rice crop. The teacher taught us to peel off the chaff, which is the rice we eat every day. These are the things we can’t learn in textbooks. I really hope that there are more opportunities to learn this kind of knowledge.

On this sunny day (my mood was as warm feeling as the same), we ushered in the first autumn field trip of SUIS. Our destination was Qingxi Country Park. On this day, seeing the endless rice fields, the beautiful Dalian Lake, and the fantastic water forest left me with deep memories. One of my favorite attractions was the water forest. As the name suggests, water forests are forests that grow on water. The water forest in Qingxi Country Park seems to have a special magic that made it difficult for my eyes to move away from there. In the forest, the cedar trees become cloudy, and each tree stands straight on the water: like a mighty soldier guarding the water forest. Every leaf is like a green elf, adding a vitality to the water forest. In addition to trees, the forest is dotted with countless beautiful flowers. Many of them bloom in a cluster, filling the forest throughout. The day passed quickly as we walked and looked around it. Although the autumn field trip has passed, the beautiful scenery still lingers in my heart. These beautiful memories will remain with me forever.
