the wishing tree & anti-epidemic work by students
Students stepped into the campus in an orderly fashion
On May 18, our campus has reopened to Grade 4 and Grade 6. Our teachers have been waiting for the students from early in the morning, looking forward to seeing our learners return to us. Under the guidance of the teachers, face-masked students stepped into the campus in an orderly fashion. They all showed their Shanghai “Green QR codes”, checked their body temperature and sterilized their hands. Arriving at the school lobby, you can see the anti-epidemic work by students, a wishing tree expressing the hopes of the students and a big screen playing student-made videos on how to cope with the epidemic.
In the breeze and the sunshine, the teachers and students assembled in the soccer field for the flag raising ceremony. Ms. Maxine Lu, General Principal of the Xiehe Education Group, praised the efforts made by teachers and students during the pandemic period. She encouraged Grade 4 & 6 students to be examples for younger students, who will return to school soon, and prepare for future challenges in terms of knowledge, skills and attitudes.

In their first “Back-to-School” lesson, our homeroom teachers introduced the schoolwide measures for epidemic prevention and spread anti-virus knowledge. And in the meantime, the homeroom teachers worked with the students using P4C-style strategies, developing students’ thinking skills and helping students reflect on their last few months of home-school life. The psychology teacher offered psychological development to students, helping them to re-adapt positively to campus life. The subject teachers book-ended on-line learning and awarded the students who did an excellent job.
Three months later, the campus was refreshed by the return of the teachers and the smiling faces of the students.
Returning to school reminds us that day always follows night, that the warm summer breeze caresses and lifts our spirits and the morning dew sparkles like a jewel with the rising of the sun. Welcome back, everyone!
