The new semester is quickly approaching, and on August 28 SUIS Qingpu held its first PSG meeting of the 2020 school year which included an inspection of the school’s preparation work. We believe that parents are the most important partners in the process of school education. We discuss together, listen to each other, observe problems from multiple angles, and work together to care for the growth of children.
This PSG event was divided into three parts: a home-school interactive forum, an inspection of school preparation work, and feedback.
At the forum, Ms. Maxine Lu, General Principal of the Xiehe Education Group, started with an overview of the Qingpu Campus’ “Strategic Plan & 2020-2021 Goals”, explaining the development of and changes at SUIS Qingpu, and shared and discussed work priorities and plans for the new semester.
In terms of school culture, new staff and students will adapt to the school’s culture and have a sound knowledge of goals, standards, etiquette, etc., reflecting their ownership of and contribution to a positive school culture. As well, positive character traits will be reinforced through our unique educational projects during the establishment of our school culture with P4C (Philosophy for Children), Positive Discipline, Child Protection and Global Perspectives.
In terms of the curriculum, the concept of a whole-person education will be implemented with the help of a wealth of selective courses, clubs, school teams, and abundant activities inside and outside of school. The comprehensive curriculum map for primary, middle and high school divisions meets the educational standards of China, the Xiehe Education Group and the world’s most advanced educational organizations.
In teaching and learning, we will ensure that teachers are fully prepared for their classes and students are active participants in the learning process, and that all students and teachers are reflective and communicative. We will develop a high-quality and individualized system of homework assignment and feedback, and launch effective subject research and targeted professional development.
In terms of academic performance, primary, middle and high school students will be organized to participate in standardized tests at home and abroad so as to set clear goals for academic development.
In terms of ICT, with the help of intelligent office systems, teachers will be able to avoid repetitive tasks and devote more time and energy to children. At the same time, we will improve the online education technology platform and realize more possibilities through online and offline integration.
In terms of school management, the SUIS Qingpu Campus will enhance more systematic communication. The Principals Office will issue monthly staff letters and parent letters for the delivery of school-level information, while the primary, middle and high school divisions will maintain formal communication channels such as staff meetings and parent meetings along with informal meetings with staff and parents to promote face-to-face interaction. Administrative and logistics staff will uphold the concepts of safety, efficiency and friendly-cooperation, and will continue to improve the quality of work, with particular attention to the green use of school energy.
This school year will also see the opening of SUIS Qingpu’s very first Boarding System by establishing rules and regulations, building teams, polishing after-school courses, and exploring orderly, interesting and distinctive SUIS Qingpu Boarding Projects.
Subsequently, Co-acting Principals Ms. Sunny Huang and Dr. Adam Neufield introduced the new look of SUIS Qingpu: the growing number of students and teachers, the weekend swimming pool opening plan, the newly built corridors, the Cooking Studio and Art Studio, the Super Power Station, and the soon-to-begin construction of an Ancient Scholar’s House.

Seeing is believing. PSG members then participated in a campus inspection, visiting key areas such as the canteens, school buses, dormitories, security stations, the cleaning department, and sports and other facilities, and also examined a variety of equipment. Front-line staff at each location explained work processes and answered parents’ questions. After the event, PSG members scanned a QR code to provide feedback and leave suggestions.
We wish to thank each and every parent for your support and understanding of the school’s work, with which SUIS Qingpu can be firmly confident on the journey of teaching and educating your children. The new semester is just around the corner. We believe that everyone is full of expectations, so let us all welcome the 2020 school year with a fresh, positive and invigorated outlook!
