A new semester has begun and a lot of new students have joined our Qingpu family. They are curious about their new school, but they also have many concerns.
As well as this our former students have been promoted to a new grade. They are expected to embrace new learning as the semester begins.
Ms. Yu introduced the psychological counseling center and combined each learning area with pictures and text.
Next, Ms. Yu invited some students to share their feelings about coming to a new school, being promoted to new grade and joining a new class.
G1 & G2: School starts, I’m ready!
Look! Two lovely Grade One kids are leading all the students in Grade One and Two to dance on the stage happily.
Listen! A freshman in Grade One – Little Li, is telling us about his mood before going to school.
In order to help Little Li adapt to life at his new school, many students were enthusiastically giving him suggestions:
“Remember to prepare well for school. Make sure you have everything you need before you go to school!”
“You need to pack your schoolbag by yourself. Remember to take your homework!”
“You can prepare your clothes the night before so you won’t be late in the morning!”
“Set an alarm so that you will not oversleep!”
Little Li has already made a good friend when reading in the library. He has been praised by the teacher after raising his hand bravely and answering questions in class. He already loves his new school!
Ms. Yu said, ‘I hope that everyone can prepare well for school and class actively like Little Li. Remember to listen carefully in class, answer questions bravely, communicate with teachers if you have any questions and treat friends sincerely. If you do this, I believe you will adapt to the learning life of your new school faster!’
G3 – G6: New semester, I’m ready!
Pitter Patter! Pitter Patter! Pitter Patter! This is “Raindrop Variations” performed by the students.
After the ice breaking game, the children gather to share their feelings:
“I was a little worried when playing. I was afraid I would make mistakes.”
“I was very excited because I thought I would do this perfectly.”
“I became more and more nervous later, because I felt the pace of the game was getting faster and faster. I couldn’t follow it!”
“It’s so great the game is finally over! I feel so relieved, I was too nervous just now.”
Ms. Yu told everyone that life is the same as the game. When we begin at a new school, join a new class or a new grade, we are both expectant and anxious. But as long as we are observing the new environment carefully and being aware of how we feel, thinking positively and finding solutions, moving actively and adjusting continuously, we will definitely adapt to the new semester faster.
Students’ words
From this lecture, I learned how to get along with my classmates better – making friends actively, treat friends sincerely and respecting their thoughts and opinions.
When I first came to this new school, I was very nervous and afraid that I couldn’t keep up with the pace of learning. After listening to this lecture, I realized that if I listen carefully in class, the pressure of homework will be reduced. Reviewing and previewing my work is also very important. Allocating reasonable study time and balancing this with rest time then my responsiveness in class will be better!
The study methods shared by the teacher in the lecture helped me to move towards to my goals better!
According to the study methods shared in the lecture, I made a study management timetable. I feel I am more efficient with my homework time now!
In the game, I realized the importance of listening to the teacher’s instructions. This helped me keep up with the game. This is the same in life, we must prepare carefully for everything and adapt where necessary.
