“Always cherish gratitude, and always be grateful.” Today, SUIS Qingpu organized a flag-raising ceremony with the theme of “Thanksgiving” to let students understand the importance of their peers, parents, teachers, and society in their lives.
The flag-raiser and flag-guard from the seventh grade, with their heads high, guarding the national flag with a solemn expression. Under the watchful eyes of all the teachers and students of our school, the “March of Volunteers” sounded again, and the five-star red flag rises slowly.

Under the flying five-star red flag, Ms. Sunny Huang, Co-Acting Principal delivered a speech at the flag raising ceremony this month. “Gratitude is not far away from us. It is an attitude. It is a state of mind that is good at discovering the special moments in life and enjoying them.” She used Stephen Hawking’s example to encourage students to learn “the philosophy of gratitude.” When setbacks and failures come, we should still be grateful for life’s surprises and get up again after falling down.

Next, the representative of the team leader of our school, Ariel Du from Class 7D, gave a speech to all the teachers and students with the theme of “Gratefulness, Happy Growth”. She told us that for the happy life we already have, we should cherish with gratitude, and be grateful to our parents, teachers, and those who silently contribute to the school. For security guard, staff in the cafeteria, school bus Drivers and cleaning ladies, they are providing us and maintaining such a comfortable learning and living environment.
In the warm applause of the teachers and students, the team leaders and classmates presented gifts to the administrative staffs, our school-cleaning ladies, security staffs, boarding staffs, school bus drivers and cafeteria staffs. You have all worked so hard!

Finally, the father of Kelly Zhao of Class 7D, as the parent representative, gave a speech. He told us that the elder students should be kind to the younger students. We should live in harmony, help each other, and overcome difficulties together. He suggested that everyone and the students from the front, back, left and right shake hands and say “Thank you” to him or her.
