The European Carnival has come to an end, filling our tummies with a full month of a delicious “European Buffet”. “Salad English” also followed the English group all over the campus to have a “taste” everywhere! Now let’s share the fruits of the findings of Grade One and Two!
GRADE 1
Meet Andersen
In the European carnival, the Grade One English group led the studious children focus on the king of fairy tales, Hans Christian Andersen. From listening, telling stories, to performing stories, from the careful preparation to the wonderful performance, from the shyness at the beginning of school to superb self-confidence three months later, we show the magic fairy tales can weave into our lives!
GRADE 2
Short Fable · Big Truth
Last month, as part of SUIS Qingpu’s European Carnival, Grade Two kids became script writers and performers of Aesop’s classic fables. The students researched the characters, setting and moral lesson of each to fully appreciate Aesop’s colourful storytelling. Then the Grade Two students began to add their own magical ideas to change the fables. After many rehearsals and a lot of careful rewriting, some students took to the stage and happily entertained their classmates. Joining the performers on stage were Questioners; Students who asked the audience a question about each fable. Everyone giggled and learned something new, while many others received prizes for answering questions correctly.
Everything was in English and everything was awesome! Thank you to the performers and their parents for working with the teachers to make this a spectacular celebration of team work.
