“Grateful growth, sow dreams!” On March 26, 2021, in the early spring, everything was revived. Shanghai United International School Qingpu Campus (SUIS QP) held a collective birthday party for the third grade students. Students, teachers and parents gathered together to make the children know how to keep grateful through the joyous celebration.
Shining Moments
This was a memorable ceremony for every child. Every student dressed up and walked on the red carpet, showing their brightest and most confident selves, as well as acknowledged the arrival of these ten years old to the world.
Warm and Sweet Ceremony
At the ceremony we viewed a video of every child’s growth. As if traveling in a time machine, the audience was able to relive the joys and hardships of growing up. SUIS Qingpu Co-acting Principals Ms. Sunny Huang and Dr. Adam Neufield shared words of great affection and abundant blessings. A student’s poem, “Mom and Dad”, recited with the purest sincerity of a child’s heart, ended with a deep bow showing gratitude for the parents’ love. Parents’ representatives also stepped onto the stage and offered their sincere blessings and gifts at this important moment of their children’s lives.
The poetry recitation by the G3 teachers, accompanied by photos and music, showed us the students’ progress from entering SUIS QP to now. On this special day, we also paid tribute to the teachers, thanking them for their thoughtfulness and dedication. There were also song and dance performances prepared by students, which exemplified the charm, self-confidence and creativity of ten-year-old children.
The “Happy Birthday Song” has played, and birthday candles were lit. With the dancing candle flames and the happy eyes of parents and teachers, each child silently made a wish for their tenth birthday. Later, Primary School Director Ms. Helen Liu led all the students to raise a glass to celebrate the arrival of the tenth birthday!
Sowing Dreams
After eating birthday cake, the children eagerly collected their gardening tools and rushed to participate in tree planting activities with teachers and parents. Some students held trees in place. Some secured the trees with soil, while other added water to the soil. The activity scene was full of laughter and hope.
A green plant is planted in one’s hand, and a forest is planted in one’s heart. Children planted not only a tree, but also their dream and everyone’s hope. This forest will grow stronger with the nourishment of years!
