In addition to the vision in the film and TV show, sound and language also play an important role. It is fun to interpret different characters through dubbing.
Last week, SUIS Qingpu gathered a group of dubbing actors and actresses from middle school. They selected films and shows, memorized new English words, understood characters, practiced repeatedly, and finally presented the dubbing show!
The competition was hosted by, Ino from 7D and Jeremey from 6C. After the basic formalities, the exciting performance kicked off.
The competition began with a comedic performance from 7B. It was a great way to start the show and set a high bar for the rest of the performers. Performances followed from 7E, 6B, 6C, 7D, and 7C. Students were able to display their strong English ability by dubbing as the quick speaking characters from Zootopia and Inside Out. Some teams chose to challenge themselves with tricky vocabulary from shows and movies like The Big Bang Theory and Pirates of the Caribbean. Other teams displayed that they may be capable of a career in voice acting by taking on dramatic or unique roles from White Snake and Annoying Orange.
Some teachers also chose to join in on the fun. Mr. Jamie and Mr. Alex recorded a few comedic dubs putting a new spin on the dialogue from Forrest Gump and The Lion King, as well as recording a funny scene from the movie Shrek.
The show concluded with encouraging and constructive comments from the judges who were very impressed with the level of skill that the students displayed. Every judge noted that it was clear that the students had put a lot of time and effort into their performances and were all deserving of a win.
Next week the winner will be declared, but regardless of who wins we all left with a desire to watch more movies!
