In the sun-filled and cooler days of early winter, Middle School Grade 6 students set off for a 3-day overnight trip themed,“Independent Youngsters.
In the opening ceremony, the trainers shared with us their two main goals: to improve our independence and our inner strength.
Team Building
This activity brought us closer to each other by working and living together.
Dig potential
Our all-round potential was increased and our problem-solving capability improved through field survival training.
On the second day, we were visited by Principal Huang, Vice-principal Zhang and the Head of Middle School, Mr. Wang. They encouraged us a lot!
Self-reliance
By making dumplings and cooking with a stove, we became more self-reliant, and…we had a lot of fun! It was tasty!
Cooperation
Through car-building activities, drilling wood for fire, putting out a battery fire, fetching water from an outdoor source and setting up tents, we built a warm team by using our hands.
The spirit of fellowship
The spirit of fellowship flashed here and there during the three-day communal living.
Self-control and self-discipline
We followed instructions and we were tolerant of each other. When encountering small problems, we controlled our temper. As middle school students, we learned to use self-discipline to win the trust of others.
Entertainment
Beautiful musical notes sounded in song and youthful vitality was demonstrated in dances – we had a great time without mobile phones!
Letters for parents
We wrote a letter to our parents, expressing our new-found confidence and our gratitude to them.
Independent Life
We exchanged team loyalty points for money in order to buy food. It was not easy to make a living.
Self-reflection
In our daily meetings, we dedicated our applause to ourselves, having demonstrated outstanding performance during the course. We also gave thanks to our parents who gave us confidence and love.
The three-day overnight adventure was very short, but our determination will last for a long time. We are determined to not only become good students in the eyes of our teachers and good children in the eyes of our parents, but to also learn to integrate into society, to be brave to try new things, to actively explore, and to be willing to cooperate. We can enjoy a life of delicious food and quality clothing, but we must also be able to live on canteen food and sleep on a hard bed – after all, those who can endure hardships and enjoy blessings can be resilient and have the perseverance to overcome difficulties in learning and life.
