In 2021, Gao Yuansheng, SUIS Qingpu teacher, won the Qingpu District Gardener Award and the 2nd Teacher Ethics Award of the Qingpu District.
In 2013, she joined SUIS Qingpu because of her belief in Xiehe Education’s concept of “Diversity in unity, Innovation through collaboration”.

Interview preface:what is the best life?
The best life is one that is warm and calm, like the spring, and one with clean heart, like a spring breeze. Teacher Gao gives me that warm feeling.
She is a head teacher – beautiful, intelligent and rigorous. At the same time, she is a math teacher with deep teaching experience. She teaches children to play with Rubik’s Cubes and to develop their thinking skills. She also develops interesting games to make children fall in love with mathematics. She is skilled at encouraging and guiding children positively. With students are not behaving well, she can always find their strengths, praise and encourage them in a timely manner, and in turn enhance their confidence and courage. She is a teacher full of wisdom who is deeply respected by students and parents.
In the eyes of her students, Ms. Gao is a magical mathematics teacher, leading them to explore the charm of mathematics like exploring a magical world.
In the eyes of parents, Ms. Gao is a super ‘child king’. Why can she always solve our challenging problems with ease? How does one of her students end up making the transformation from a poorly-behaved student to a well-behaved one?
We think our students are very blessed to have Ms. Gao as a teacher. She really listens to children’s inner voices. She really knows how to discover the students’ expectations for engaging with others.
How to walk into the child’s heart?
My students and I often enter a very straight dialogue – they will tell me frankly what is not appropriate, and then we will think about why this action is not appropriate and how we might do better.
When we help students learn to solve problems, we actually create a mechanism for communication and dialogue. Let the child trust you and be willing to do it according to your suggestions and requirements. At the same time, students will also have their own thinking and judgement. If we operate only under the teacher’s authority and commands, it will be unfavorable for the development of the teacher-student relationship and the growth of children over time.
Love and control are completely two concepts. Education is simple love and beauty.
The hope and warmth brought by education come from the word “love”, which makes children feel warm energy and sincere hope.
How to walk into the parents’ heart?
When I give students feedback, they must not feel nervous or anxious. In fact, when students are communicating and trying solving problems, we should be quick to label or judge them. If a students needs some adjustment and guidance, and I will analyze the possible causes with his/her parents. Building trust in the process of continuous cooperation and communication is important. In fact, when I meet parents, sometimes we don’t understand each other in the beginning. This process takes time. After some time, more and more problems can and will be solved together. Parents slowly feel that you really want to help their children solve problems rather than shirk their responsibilities.
Because of mutual trust, the relationship between teachers and parents will become more unified, eventually becoming a form of comradeship.
Criticizing is easy, but loving and tolerating are the most difficult things to do. It takes effort and wisdom to find ways to stimulate children’s internal drives. When I spent time with Ms. Gao in the process of helping children solve problems and seeing them grow up little by little, I felt deeply that she was a comrade-in-arms, standing beside us to help us together.
With Ms. Gao, we can help children more easily and efficiently, and accompany their growth with more tolerance and love.
How to become a math teacher with magic
As long as he is exploring in earnest, he will be a good learner.Mathematics is fun. I especially hope that parents can accompany us in order to understand the thinking processes involved in children as they learn mathematics
I teach math in a way that helps everyone enjoy it more. Perhaps this is because I constantly expose children to different methods, helping them to explore mathematics and discover mathematics in new ways.

I am a head teacher, a subject teacher and the coordinator of the grade group. In terms of quantity, there are indeed more things I am responsible for. However, I believe that the many things that I need to manage come down to one continuous line.
