Spring has arrived and has brought new excitement to SUIS Qingpu – the Cross-Grade Artistic Performing Corner! While this project has been occurring since the beginning of our music lesson provision almost three years ago, it has remained an in-class activity for both our music and art lessons. We are excited to report that it has now become a visible and real talent show occurring on the stage for all to enjoy.
Every week, students will enjoy solo performances from their classmates during regular music lessons. Without exception, everyone will have a chance to perform and try for a spot on the stage! SUIS Qingpu music teachers will carefully consider all performances that happen in the classroom and choose the most hardworking, well-prepared children to perform on stage and to exhibit their skills in the salon. Selected students from Grades 1 to 11 will witness each other’s performances, not as part of any competition but for the appreciation and enjoyment of each other’s skills and talents.
Creative expression helps children articulate their feelings and thoughts. A beautiful art exhibition took place along with the concert. Every student whose artwork was chosen for the exhibition stayed by their masterpiece and was ready to tell the story behind it, sharing the challenges they faced and providing explanations about their creative process.
Research shows that children involved in artistic activities are more likely to be recognized for their academic achievements compared with their non-performing friends. Here at SUIS Qingpu, we believe that it is important for students to have opportunities for artistic expressions, and we do our best to provide a platform for them to do so. The music and art teams work hand-in-hand with parent group representatives who are always ready to support students in the best possible way.
The Cross-Grade Artistic Performing Corner show will now take place every month. Teachers and Students at SUIS Qingpu look forward to experiencing more art exchanges and outstanding performances in March and April.Let art become a daily part of our lives, allow our dreams to be true and shine.
