Children’s growth will not stop because of the “pause button” pressed by the pandemic, and every time we help growth, we will not stop.

Kindergarten children are about to enter primary school. How should they find answers to their curiosity about primary school life? How do Grade 2 children, who graduated not long ago from kindergarten, share their thoughts on primary school life with their younger schoolmates? How to answer questions about primary school that kindergarten children are most concerned about?

With these questions in mind, the “effective linkage, two-way growth” teaching and research activities for kindergarten were officially launched, and primary school teachers and kindergarten teachers held online discussions to deliver a rich variety of activities.

In order to satisfy the curiosity of the children, the primary school prepared a campus promotional video. In the video, brothers and sisters from the primary school took everyone for a visit the campus’ main activity venues, experiencing the primary school atmosphere together.

Interactive connection, close the distance

The activities officially started with self-introductions from primary school teachers. Primary school brothers and sisters then introduced themselves to their younger siblings, as they were once students in Qingpu’s Fortune Kindergarten. After introducing their hobbies to their younger siblings, they welcomed them to play together after they arrive in the primary school. All of a sudden, the primary students felt much closer to their younger soon-to-be primary schoolmates.

Speak online and share your feelings

Brothers and sisters shared their feelings of becoming primary school students in the form of speeches. Classmate Pan Chengran used a humorous style to describe how he changed from a kindergarten student to a primary school student. He led his younger siblings through a review of his life during the first week of primary school, and also conducted an interactive survey on the primary school curriculum for which his younger siblings were most looking forward to. Student Liu Qinlei introduced her favorite campus activities from first grade to everyone, and warmly welcomed younger brothers and sisters to join the school.

Even though the younger brothers and sisters were young, their ability to ask questions was not diminished. The questions raised involved all aspects of primary school life, and they did not forget to ask any questions. Fortunately, our primary students were well-prepared, always answering patiently and giving examples to complement their responses. One-by-one, as ‘people who have been here before’, they encouraged their younger siblings not to be nervous and to share their own methods. They showed confidence in their gestures, and their love for their school and their teachers was tangible. Every child is a shining bright star, and our primary school students are the epitome of what every child in the school can be.

Harvest full, two-way growth

After the event, every little volunteer who participated in the event felt the reward of fulfilling his/her responsibility, and also reaped the joy of giving. Kindergarten parents felt that it was real and natural for their children to understand primary school from a parallel perspective, and experienced what their children will look like as primary school students in the future. The parents of the young volunteers felt that their children were at all times polite and friendly, trying to help their younger brothers and sisters understand the content of their speeches and planting a small seed of “responsibility” in them. The little volunteers also felt the power of helping and encouraging, and learned to affirm their own growth. Let us work together so that every activity can help children grow and gain strength.
