“Into the Future: Painting our Childhood” – Closing Ceremony for the 2nd Campus Art Festival
Yesterday was the closing Ceremony of the SUIS Qingpu Primary Art Festival and, at the same time, the celebration of Children’s Day for our Xiehe students. During this special event, we gave students our good wishes; we hope that our efforts over the month served to encourage their excitement for learning. Although we have experienced an unforgettable time during the pandemic, your children’s creations at home were magnificent! During the month-long period, the students experienced various creative and engaging activities: fashion costume creations for the catwalk, a painting competition, shadow studies, pixel art, stop-motion animation, and a talent show! They also became familiar with the charm of combining technology and art!
During the month of art-related activities, students studied the relationship between technology and art from various perspectives. Students painted the blueprint of science and technology in their hearts through the exploration and integration of art. Under the theme of “technology”, they designed clothing with futuristic elements; with the knowledge of painting as their inspirational ‘wings’, they took us travelling into children’s imaginations of future worlds.
This year’s Children’s Day celebration was broadcasted to and enjoyed at home by the entire Primary School community. The celebration included various artistic activities and talent shows from each grade’s young artists. The students’ creativity and confidence were at the forefront of their fantastic work, and tender and lovely faces came into view one after another, exuding vibrancy and excitement.
The children developed rich imaginations when studying shadows at home and brought them to life when adding a few graffiti marks. Students also tried their hands at creating pixel art, imitating the style of electronic technology and experiencing what it would be like to be a director and producer when filming their stop motion animations. Even though they were studying at home, the activities made students deeply aware of the impact and development of science and technology in our lives, allowing us to stay closely connected with each other.
Are you not all amazed by our students’ talents?! This year’s “Into the Future: Painting our Childhood” 2nd Annual Campus Art Festival has ended. We look forward to the time when we will all meet each other back on our beautiful campus!
