This week, SUIS Qingpu welcomed new and returning teachers to the campus’ 4th school year!
The orientation program started off with a welcome gathering in the Ancient Scholars House. Through introductions provided by the school’s Chinese and foreign principals, the teachers learned about the founding history of SUIS Qingpu, the exciting changes and improvements to the campus, and the work objectives for the new academic year. Co-Principals Sunny Huang and Dr Adam Neufield provided an in-depth understanding of the different ways this year’s three key words, ” commitment, connections and innovation” will be serving to develop the quality of our teaching and learning. It is hoped that all new teachers will devote themselves to teaching and work, to establish positive and effective communication, and to maintain the vitality of and innovation at SUIS Qingpu through the building of connections and sustained commitment.
The new teachers participated in both campus-based activities with their divisional colleagues as well as information sessions and training delivered online from Xiehe Education Group colleagues. Led by several returning SUIS Qingpu teachers, they toured the entire campus and learned more about all the amazing resources available for the school’s teaching and learning programme. The teachers then received information on pandemic prevention measures, campus entry/exit procedures, and administrative logistics support. Over the course of the two days, our new teachers gradually became familiar with their new workplace – we are confident they will quickly adapt to work and life at SUIS Qingpu!
On the morning of August 24, both new and returning colleagues gathered at the school’s Theatre for a whole-school meeting. The joyful, smiling faces and the exuberant sharing of warm greetings made everyone deeply moved.
Through moving and enthusiastic speeches from Co-Principals Sunny Huang and Dr Adam Neufield, the teachers, who had not seen each other for a long time, were reminded of the hard work and life struggles experienced during the lockdowns and period of online education. The Co-Principals thanked the teachers for their perseverance and commitment to their students, and the Theatre again was filled with warmth and deep feelings as a result. We hope that these special memories will be sealed in the minds of our big ‘family’ forever.
The primary school is sensitive and warm, the middle school, rational and professional, the high school, innovative and diversified, the administration department, passionate and efficient, and the boarding department, orderly and safe. Each division and department introduced their characteristics in creative and unique ways, at the same time welcoming their new colleagues. Warm applause erupted often, and happy laughter broke out again and again. We believe that SUIS Qingpu will continue to improve and achieve greater and greater heights!
