Despite a very hot summer, welcoming our teachers back to the Qingpu Campus made the climate feel cozy and comfortable. On the morning of August 29, all middle school mathematics teachers attended a teaching seminar having the theme of, “Implementing the new curriculum plan and standards for 2022”. Guided by researchers, lecturers and research students, and through a professional, responsible and high-quality approach, we aim to collaborate in an effective manner as we prepare for the new semester.
New Teaching Challenges
The mathematics group expressed in unity its continued desire to build the subject group through the implementation of a standardized professional growth path for teachers through “teachers’ independent learning, hierarchical development, team research, demonstration classes, and the following of regulations”. These initiatives are used to support the overall development of the school and create a high-quality mathematics team.
Additionally, the mathematics group teaching will provide standardized cases for curriculum development and the implementation of comprehensive science and engineering learning through exploration and practice as well as components such as the “curriculum system, teaching mode, schedule, student activities and test paper preparation”.
Discipline group construction
This semester’s mathematics teaching and research is aimed at developing students’ core mathematical literacy. The goal of practicing the new curriculum standards and striving to improve the professional level of all our teachers is of utmost importance for this semester.
In August, the mathematics teaching and research group specially invited Mrs. Jingxian Sun, Director of the Teaching and Research Office of Minhang District. Mrs. Sun provided special training for all mathematics teachers on “The New Middle School Examination”, “New Curriculum Standards”, “The New Classroom”, and “Guidance for Middle School Mathematics Teaching Methods”. Coordinator Mr. Kevin Li from SUIS Qingpu’s Teacher Development Academy (TDA) also participated in the meeting.
