Best Wishes 兔 (To) You, 2023!
With the approaching footsteps of spring, the children are back at school!
The Opening Ceremony
At the school gate, several lovely rabbits welcomed the excited students. As soon as they entered the school, each student received a delightful White Rabbit candy treat from the assembled teachers, managers and principals! In the main foyer, music teachers led the Nightingale Choir in singing jubilant songs to welcome the children back to school. Once again, the school was full of happy chatter and the sound of laughter.
The Flag-raising Ceremony
With the start of a solemn flag-raising ceremony, the Opening Ceremony began. Co-Principals Sunny and Adam delivered an opening speech, inspiring students with their best wishes and hopes for the new semester. Our Co-Principals shared the idea that when we live in a happy family, we should not forget our responsibilities – those who are helpful and selfless can make people around us feel happy.
Our music teachers once again impressed us with a traditional drumming performance that set our hearts thumping! As the sounds of the drumming faded, a magical dragon captured by our Middle School students appeared, dancing elegantly to the delight of the assembled crowd. Primary PE teachers, dressed as two lions dancing and playing, were greeted with thunderous applause. Everyone was amazed at the wonderful performances of the teachers and students!
The lion and dragon dances are part of traditional Chinese folk culture, and the lion and dragon symbolize our “East Meets West” educational philosophy. On this happy day, we invited our students to feel the unique charm of Chinese cultural traditions. While integrating Chinese and Western education, we will maintain and develop the ‘roots’ of Chinese culture. This is the true meaning of “Chinese roots, Global wings”.
Start the New Year “Love” program
The students of SUIS Qingpu have long been enthusiastic about public welfare activities, participating, for example, in the “Sunshine Association” youth public welfare program, raising funds for the education of children in Yunnan province, engaging with the “Lancang-Mekong Hand-in-Hand Plan”, promoting exchange and cooperation in culture and education in China and Laos, joining the “Qinghe Sharing Station”, working with the “One heart and one mind” public welfare project, saving resources, and effectively replenishing and protecting our natural environment. Three student representatives from Primary, Middle and High School introduced their experiences and feelings about participating in charity activities at home and abroad as well as their service as volunteers. They also encouraged students to make progress in the new semester and cherish others and the world – “Share what you earn with the less fortunate.” This is the loving Year of the Rabbit, so we hope that everyone can show their love in this month’s Charity Sale. Our strength may be limited, but whatever we choose to do it can be full of love. We should make our own contribution to others and society with practical actions.
Teachers and students from primary school, middle school, and senior high school respectively shouted out the ‘love slogans’, which served to connect our hearts together:
“有爱兔年,协励奉献”
“因爱聚力,和谐闪耀”
“协同共进,益谦四益”
After all those in the audience recited the slogans, Assistant Principal Helen Liu provided a speech. She told us that the world is a concentric circle of love, inspiring us to love the people around us and help more people in need. The Senior Primary School Leadership team then led all the teachers and students to sing the famous song “Love” together with the accompaniment from the students.
Class activities
After the ceremony, the exhilarated students took part in class photo sessions with their teachers in front of a Year of the Rabbit banner at the school gate. After returning to their classrooms, they held class meetings for “The first lesson”. As one walked through the corridors, you could only be warmed by the children’s smiles and could not help but participate in their wonderful games!
If people work hard, then spring comes early. It’s time to forge ahead! At the beginning of the new semester, we hope that the students of SUIS Qingpu will gather together and work hard to start the New Year full of love!
Best Wishes To (兔) You!
