We are at the beginning of a new semester. Grade 1 Rabbits came back to the campus in high spirits. They were ready to display their energy and knowledge.
Look, our rabbit friend is encouraging the students! A wide range of Year of the Rabbit decorations – funny and cute rabbit ears, and small rabbit dolls – decorate our campus, enriching the Year of the Rabbit atmosphere!
What a lively space, with teachers wearing Chinese New Year costumes, big red scarves symbolizing the “rabbit”, and little rabbit charms to greet our little lucky rabbits with. The lingering environment of lovely cards, festive stamps, and carefully designed challenges by teachers of various subjects contain the teachers’ good wishes for their children. This year our teachers have planned a brand-new tour – the “Year of the Rabbit Assessment Tour”. It promises to be a new semester of learning!
To fulfill learning by doing and to motivate our Grade 1 students to learn, Chinese teachers have designed a variety of games according to the developmental characteristics of our first graders. The learning focuses in the last semester: “Pinyin Fruit Picking”, “Word Carousel”, “Little Reciter” and “Be an Announcer” were the themes for these games.
Look! The little rabbits are all very confident and have memorized the ancient poems; they are having fun wandering in the kingdom of poetry. We hope the children will apply the spirit of this activity to their future studies and ride the waves!
The Grade 1 rabbits had a great time learning English all semester and showed off their “bunny” skills at the Assessment Tour.
Look! The children are holding a string of festive ‘candy canes’ with the words they have learned on their strings. In the fun and educational lantern riddle activity, the little rabbits were curiously looking at the lanterns and experiencing the fun of traditional culture, all the while demonstrating their English learning achievements. “I like lemons. They are small and round. They are …” The confident and fluent voices of the children were heard throughout the red envelope event. The students performed their skills, presenting a feast of cultural blending and a colourful start to the new year of learning.
The rabbits are good at jumping and are motivated when faced with difficulties. They have the courage to leap over them. As ‘rabbits’, our students can jump over the wall of mathematical questions to identify the correct shapes, add and subtract on the number line, recognize geometric shapes, differentiate between flat and three-dimensional shapes, and explore the laws of the number wall. The multi-dimensional exploration of mathematical activities created a more interesting atmosphere for learning and exploring mathematics.
“Haha! I’m the fastest at counting walls!” “I know all these shapes!”
Our teachers were happy and proud to see the students’ confidence and achievements.
We hope that after this ‘rabbit competition’ our students will be brave enough to challenge themselves to succeed in the future.
At SUIS Qingpu, Grade 1 students have overcome many difficulties, and they are actively learning and growing through play. We believe that in the new term the children will be able to make great improvements and breakthroughs and obtain great rewards through learning happily in our beautiful campus while exploring the sea of dreams. We wish our students a year full of confidence, and we hope that they will ride the waves of learning and have a great year ahead!
