Youth showed its elegant demeanour, and art filled the entire campus. Amidst the passionate rhythms of merry songs and much cheerful chatter, our teachers and students from across the entire campus enjoyed a happy get together. They ushered in our school’s 3rd Annual Art Festival – “Everything comes back to life · childlike innocence sets sail” – to celebrate International Children’s Day together. This festival lasted three weeks. Teachers and students of SUIS Qingpu demonstrated their solid artistic foundations, exquisite artistic skills, and profound artistic perceptions. Co-Principals Ms. Sunny Huang and Dr. Adam Neufield, along with Ms. Helen Liu, Assistant Principal and Head of Primary, attended the Art Festival’s Closing Ceremony.
Co-Principals’ Speech
Co-Principals Ms. Sunny and Dr. Adam delivered a motivational speech for the festival’s audience, expressing their heartfelt gratitude to the faculty, parents, and students who have put in industrious effort for this festival, and giving their most sincere congratulations to the students for their superb achievements. Ms. Sunny hoped that students would always carry their artistic memories with them and devote themselves to their studies and future lives in the best possible way. The passionate speech drew loud applause from the teachers and students on hand.
Presentation of the
“Principal’s Award”
For the campus painting competition, students’ creations passed through several layers of judges before winners were eventually chosen. The process began with selections from art teachers; these selections were then handed over to the parents of each grade, resulting in the selection of the top ten excellent students. Finally, a selections were made by the Principals! The highest honour was given to Class 2F student, Tina! Congratulations to Tina and all the winners! We hope that you all continue on the path of art and keep developing your creativity most profoundly!
Exhibition of joint performance
After multiple auditions, teachers’ arrangements and many rehearsals, a final programme with 12 different and unique presentations was officially unveiled at this closing ceremony, presenting an audio-visual feast for teachers, students and parents.
Fashion show
The little designers spent three weeks completing fashion works that matched their respective grade topics through the design of sketches, inspiration plates, and ready-to-wear products. Finally, they stood on the runway to show everyone their artistic achievements. We were greeted by the first graders’ “Starting with a Single Step,” the second grader’s “Weather,” the third graders’ “Vientiane Renewal,” the fourth graders’ “Riding the Wind and Waves,” and the fifth graders’ “Thriving” creations.
Talent show
The talent show performers overcame all the challenges that tend to come with standing out from the crowd to represent their classmates. Under the guidance of the music teachers, great ensembles were organized – a series of magnificent performances, one after another, leading everyone to experience endless wonderful aftertastes: the first graders’ “Prairie Steed”; the second graders’ “Clean Air – We’re in It Together”; the third graders’ “Flapping Wings”; the fourth graders’ “Small Town Summer”; and the fifth graders’ “Lifelike Summer Flowers”.
With the theme of sharing exciting science knowledge, our STEAM teachers and a group of selected students put on a fantastic show that stimulated the audience’s interest in and curiosity for science. The show sparked everyone’s collective enthusiasm for exploring unknown worlds, and cultivated a scientific spirit and innovative awareness through the fun, interactive, and practical science experiments.
During the event, there were spectacular on-the-spot demonstrations by the performers, who displayed Bernoulli’s charm of air motion with suspended airplanes and floating air balloons. Some peculiar gases were perceived to be lighter than air in the wanderings of a flying fish, and the art of air and fire was appreciated through a magic flame show, raising the students’ scientific spirit and creative awareness!
Surprising colorful egg
This year’s surprise performance was given by the elegant and outstanding Mothers Team. They also gave us a brilliant fashion show in which they shined like the most professional models in town.
Certificate of honor
The value and significance of the campus’ annual Art Festival lies in the building of a platform in which every student can find a stage to express themselves, appreciate and learn from each other, and gain joy and happiness in the process. In less than a month, the students have gained and achieved much. Costume design competitions, music competitions, school painting competitions, an Intangible Cultural Heritage Shadow Puppet artisans show and more all took place in the past four weeks. These rich forms of activity have enlivened our school’s artistic atmosphere, highlighted students’ upbeat styles, and awarded the achievements reached by each class throughout this art festival.
Teachers and fellow students, this Third Annual Art Festival will become another page in the history of our school. Besides this closing ceremony, there were a large number of wonderful moments and artistic experiences we had all the opportunity to enjoy. The joint performance of the Shadow Puppets of the Intangible Cultural Heritage was excellent beyond compare; the fifth-grade graduation exhibition of paintings was rich and colorful; many of the vibrant and lively songs, dances, and scientific experiments still lingered in the air long after the performance.
Our Shanghai United International School Qingpu Campus’ Third Annual Art Festival concluded with a most successful finale!
