As the flag bearers proudly held the Young Pioneers flag and marched on stage, with strong and powerful steps to the rhythm of the flag-raising music, the solemn flag-raising ceremony began, marking the beginning of the new team member’s Initiation Ceremony. The Grade 2 team members then stared passionately at the fiery flag and eagerly welcomed this important moment of their lives.
Organized by the team headquarters, the team committee trained the new members on the fundamental knowledge of the Young Pioneers programme to further standardize their etiquette, enhance their sense of honour and belonging to the programme, and to fully understand what it means to be a Young Pioneer. The team committee also taught and familiarized these new members with the team logo, the flag, singing the team song, taking an oath, properly saluting, and how to tie and wear the red scarf correctly. All this training helped inspire a sense of honour and belonging to the Young Pioneers programme in the hearts of these new team members.
Leader delivers a speech with fervent hope
Our school Co-Principal, Ms Sunny Huang, delivered a speech at the ceremony, congratulating the new team members for their glorious entry into the Chinese Young Pioneers and undertaking their new responsibilities. She also expressed her expectations to the new team members, sincerely hoping that they will remember the oath taken today. She encouraged them to work hard to learn, constantly striving for progress, and to aim to become pillars of society in the future.
Representatives from the new team members in Grade 2 performed a declaration of “The Young are Strong”. My blood is boiling with infinite power. My eyes are shining with wisdom, and my future will write a splendid chapter. These powerful words expressed the team member’s love for their motherland.
Blessings from parents and messages from elders
Jiang Cheng Han’s mother from Class 2E expressed her hopes and expectations for the new team members as a parent representative. On this special occasion, the other parents of the second graders also sent their sincere wishes through a video to the team members who proudly joined the Chinese Young Pioneers.
The scarf flutters and the oath resounds
Our school leaders then proceeded to the stage to put red scarves on the new team members. As a tradition, the bright red scarf is passed on from generation to generation. Thus, we also invited several parents to put on red scarves for their children. All the new members stood proudly wearing their bright red scarves.
Liu Cheng Yun, the monitor for Class 4E, led the new team members to take a solemn oath and the resounding oath echoed in the theater. These Young Pioneers will work hard to achieve their dreams, always pointing forward with their effort, and always remembering the commitment they have made to the programme.
Under the flag, the new team members clenched their fists and solemnly declared, in youthful and powerful voices under the guidance of Ms. Mia (the Counselor of the Young Pioneers Brigade), “Always be ready!”
Representative’s speech on behalf of team members’ voices
Yuan Si Chen, the representative of the new members from Class 2C, expressed his joy after joining the team in a passionate speech. He expressed that he would study hard, cooperate with others with peace and love, abide by discipline, and work together to become the successor of a new era in the future!
At the end of the ceremony, the new Young Pioneers performed the song The Heart of the Chinese Young Pioneers, conveying their heartfelt sincerity through singing. These Young Pioneers are the future and hope of the new century, and it is believed that through their own efforts, they will have a better tomorrow.
With the solemn flag music playing, the Initiation Ceremony for the Young Pioneers came to a successful conclusion. The addition of new team members has added fresh blood to the school’s Young Pioneers programme. They will use their practical skills to strive to become Young Pioneers with ideals, skills, and responsibilities, to become highly esteemed teenagers in a new era!
