The “Send out” Series
– Primary School teachers enter our kindergarten
Mr. Lu brought wonderful STEAM lessons to the young students, exploring how air occupies space and helping them understand the basic properties of air. During the learning process, the children realized that air is essential in our lives and an important part of human survival. The students discovered the characteristics of air and created an “air monster”, learning through playing!
What do children do in music class? Mr. Manuel and Ms. Anna took the students into the wonderful world of music with the theme of “Animals” they love. In addition to listening, singing, and dancing, they needed to observe with their eyes, think with their brain, and write with their hands, truly achieving a multi-dimensional classroom participation of ‘hands, eyes, mouth, and brain’. Although the students were not familiar with the beats, bars, bar lines, and bass clef, they could still apply what they learned and chose the appropriate clef for the musical segments. Throughout the process, the children remained focused and actively raised their hands to participate in the lesson. We believe they felt the joy of music!
Ms. Annie Wang led the children to start an interesting Chinese class. In the classroom, pinyin was no longer simply dull letters, but transformed into lively and interesting little ‘elves’. Through the nursery rhyme ‘Cutting Window Flowers’, the children were led to understand the relevant knowledge of window flower art, and pinyin learning became fun and lively. Look! The kindergarten students are learning how to cut window decorations! With a pair of cute scissors and a pair of agile hands, in a moment, beautiful window flowers appeared in the hands of the children. We believe that children can continue to maintain their thirst for knowledge and enthusiasm for learning, and embark on a wonderful journey of primary school learning!
Ms. Lily led the children through a lively English class. In the classroom, English is no longer just words and sentences, but animation, role-playing, music interaction and games. The children put on animal headsets and transformed themselves into cute little animals, greeting each other. The small train started, and the children walked through a ‘cave’ while singing new English songs, pretending to be afraid of being trapped. With happiness and a little nervousness showing on their faces, students gradually fell in love with this English learning atmosphere. Learning and playing is the core of English learning. We hope that the students can continue to perceive English with full interest after joining the first grade.
Ms. Sunny Zhu took children to experience a unique math lesson in a lively and interesting style. In the classroom, she guided them to compare the size of peaches and apples, and by showing them red and blue number cards students could experience the charm of mathematics through one operation activity after another!
‘Welcome in’
– A Primary School tour for Kindergarten students
Kindergarten children started a half-day research activity in our Primary School, experiencing eye exercises, a national Flag-raising Ceremony, and classroom learning with first graders. The two lessons offered experiential learning through research and learning activities. With wonderful and clever guidance, situational teaching, lively classroom interaction, and comprehensive and insightful guidance, primary school teachers deeply attracted eager learners from the kindergarten. Watching with expectant and curious eyes, actively raising their small hands, and earnestly answering questions, it was clear that they were really interested and engaged, as if they were truly primary school students!
Although the event was relatively short due to time constraints, the half-day classroom experience activity was of great significance and left a beautiful memory for the students from our kindergarten. The children genuinely felt the learning atmosphere of our primary school and experienced the learning life of primary school up close. The primary school teachers placed students’ classroom performance evaluations in the children’s study passports to encourage them to have full expectations and aspirations for primary school life, and encouraged them to save their beautiful memories!
Though the classroom environment may be limited, imaginations are infinite; though experience is limited, expectations can be infinite. In autumn, with the fragrance of osmanthus, we look forward to the kindergarten children joining SUIS Qingpu and starting a new primary school life. The school will also continue to use scientific educational concepts to effectively implement the connection between childhood and primary school, striving to ensure that every child has childlike innocence, a lively childlike interest, and a happy childhood.
