“Once a year, the autumn wind is strong – not like the breezes in springtime, but better than springtime.” On the 9th day of the 9th month of the Chinese lunar calendar, a refreshing autumn day, SUIS Qingpu held a unique Chongyang Festival activity to continue the traditional Chinese virtue of respecting and loving the elderly.
Write a note of blessing and then send your blessing!
In SUIS Qingpu’s main lobby, there is a special tree. The golden leaves are covered with bright red cards containing the blessings our students wrote to the elderly. The cards are like red butterflies, carrying the students’ blessings and flying in all directions.
After the Flag-raising Ceremony, student representatives from all grades sent their most sincere wishes to the elderly. At that moment, the sound of the wind under the trees seemed gentle.
Let us read these beautiful wishes and feel the warmth of autumn.

Through the vicissitudes over thousands of years, we have entered the 9th day of the 9th lunar month. We look at the forests and the migratory birds flying south. We are in the fall harvest, writing warm lines of poetry. Someone once said, “Childhood is a picture, youth is a dream, adolescence is a poem, middle age is an essay, and old age is a drama. On this day of honouring the elderly, I would like to say, “Don’t wait for love, don’t be late for filial piety, honour your elders, and look forward to a long life.”

When the dragon of Canglong sets in the east, there’s still rain to come; and when old trees reach late spring, they blossom anew.Happy Double Ninth Festival!

During the Double Ninth Festival, I wish you and your family happiness and success. May everything go as you hope.
Grandparents send blessings for the Double Ninth Festival
Chongyang, a festival for the elderly, is also a time for us to honour our elders and pass on our culture. During the activity, we had the honour of interviewing Class 6F’s Tony Guo’s grandfather and grandmother, asking them to tell us about their journey and the meaningful stories in their lives.
They proceeded to share about their life’s journey, and from their stories, we not only understood the challenges of their life experiences, but also deeply felt their resilience and wisdom. Their stories were like a vivid history textbook. They impressed us with their overcoming of hardships in the past and taught us to cherish the beauty of the present.
May every blessing be as warm as the sunshine; may every story be as beautiful as the autumn leaves. Let the thoughts and gratitude in the autumn wind bloom like flowers in this beautiful season.
This Chongyang Festival activity not only taught us about the real meaning of this traditional festival, but also let us know how to respect and be grateful. Respect every elderly person and be grateful for their contribution and dedication. We also learned to cherish our life more and to grasp every moment in the present!
On this special day, let us extend our sincerest respect and blessings to all the elderly. May they enjoy good health and happiness in their old age; may we all draw wisdom and strength from their stories and face the future with courage. Let us write a beautiful chapter together during this autumn.
