The book’s author Sara Gillingham says in the prologue, “I hope to introduce you to these patterns and stories of constellations, and I hope they can inspire you, just as they have inspired storytellers and artists for thousands of years. When gazing at the stars, I love to imagine those who, over the passing of time, have looked up at the same sky as me, envisioning an endless web of connections, much like the fine lines connecting the stars to form constellations, binding all of us together.”

Mr. Bear was feeling very agitated because his hat was missing. Mr. Bear decided to go outside and ask the other little animals where his hat could be. He asked the resting fox, who shook its head and said no. Then, he ran to ask the bathing little frog, who replied that he hadn’t seen any hats nearby. Mr. Bear could only continue on his hat-finding journey.
As he walked, he spotted a rabbit wearing a red hat. Once again, he inquired if the rabbit had seen a hat. The rabbit replied quickly, “No, why are you asking me this question? I’ve never seen a hat, not anywhere. I would never steal a hat, so don’t ask me any more questions.” After thanking the rabbit, Mr. Bear mechanically continued to ask the other little animals he encountered.
