Winter is a wonderful season for family reunions. This is why, anticipating the celebration of the Chinese New Year, SUIS Qingpu’s Primary School family gathered together for the 11th Artistic Performing Corner (APC). Wow! Our music, art, and dance students performed brilliantly! Everybody worked extremely hard to learn their solo pieces or introduce their artistic creations, demonstrating patience and commitment in working with others to put the event together. The students’ efforts resulted in a truly exceptional artistic afternoon!
At the beginning of the concert, our audience enjoyed an excellent performance from our incredible music teachers, Yuliya Hratyla and Martina Meng. They performed one of Samuel Barber’s songs, “Solitary Hotel” from “Despite and Still.” The gentle and sonorous voice of Ms Martina, combined with Ms Yuliya’s smooth piano accompaniment, provided an ideal start to the concert.
Being the center of attention can be stressful for many people. During music lessons, students gradually learn to develop confidence when giving public performances by practicing a piece over and over until it becomes natural. Learning how to deal with anxiety in the Primary School benefits our students and prepares them for their future stages and careers. Our Young Stars are doing a great job facing their fears and growing in confidence every day.
The audience also had a chance to appreciate the art exhibition of our 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders. The little artists showed their fabulous creations, introduced their work, and explained what inspired them. Introducing their work in English can be challenging, especially for our 1st graders, but everyone did a great job. The colours and ideas for their creations impressed everyone with their profound meanings, using unexpected colours and techniques rarely seen in such young artists’ artworks.
Confidence and hard work remain the best medicine to kill the ‘disease’ called ‘failure’. Hard work always pays off and produces successful people. We are proud of our students and appreciate their hard work, believing that their positive and self-motivating attitude will lead them to shine in the future.
