In June 2024, after the rain had cleared and the sky had brightened, we ushered in an early summer full of hope with SUIS Qingpu’s second High School Graduation Ceremony. On this momentous occasion, we were honoured to have several distinguished guests attend this event: Mr. Chen Jianguo, Member of the Standing Committee of the Qingpu District Committee and Minister of the Publicity Department join us in witnessing the pinnacle moment for our Class of 2024 graduates.
As the ceremony began, the 2024 high school graduates entered the hall under the attentive gaze of all attendees. Principal Sunny Huang Ying and Co-Principal Adam Neufield delivered commencement speeches, reflecting on the students’ high school journey and wishing them well in their future endeavours. They encouraged the graduates to “remain rooted in China and to soar freely in the world”. “While not flying may seem safer, you are destined to soar in the sky.” Subsequently, the principals awarded the graduates with high school diplomas and performed the tassel-turning ceremony.
In the first chapter of the ceremony, titled “Classmate Bonds,” Elvis Huang, a graduate of the Class of 2023 and currently studying Biomedical Sciences at the University of Edinburgh, UK, returned to his alma mater. He reminisced about his high school life and shared experiences from his first year of university, inspiring the graduates to look forward to their promising yet challenging future. Graduate representative Tara Ye recounted the challenges she faced during her high school years and expressed her gratitude to the teachers and parents who supported her along the way.

The event’s second chapter, “Parental Love,” featured a speech by Mrs. Yang Xue, mother of graduate Victoria Xu, representing all parents. She reflected on her child’s growth at SUIS Qingpu’s High School and encouraged the graduates to thrive and grow towards the sun in their future lives. Then, all graduates stood up, bowed deeply to their parents, and presented them with flowers, expressing their heartfelt gratefulness.

In the fourth chapter, “Love for Home and Country,” Mr. Chen Jianguo, Member of the Standing Committee of the Qingpu District Committee and Minister of the Publicity Department, delivered a concluding speech. Minister Chen praised the graduates for their hard work over the past three years and offered encouraging words and blessings for their future. He expressed his hope that more students from SUIS Qingpu would return after their studies to contribute to the development of Qingpu district, helping to accelerate the construction of a modern hub and gateway with their wisdom and strength.
Finally, let us extend our best wishes to the 2024 graduates: soar with your double wings!
