The spring breeze gently sweeps across the campus, carrying with it the essence and vitality of art. On 16 April, the 16th Artistic Performing Corner (APC) took place on our campus, offering a delightful artistic experience for teachers, students, and the audience. Music and fine arts seamlessly blended on the stage as students illuminated the entire theatre with their talents.
The Ocean of Music:
Dreams and Hopes in Melody
Music is a universal language that transcends linguistic barriers and touches the heart of everyone. The music performances in this talent show were truly touching! From the angelic singing voices of the first graders, to the piano and street dance performances by the fifth graders, each act showcased the children’s love for and talent in music. These young musicians used their skills and passion to earn enthusiastic applause from the audience.

The World of Fine Arts: Creativity and Inspiration in Colour

The display of fine art was truly impressive. The students used brushes to paint the world as they saw it, and each piece was brimming with creativity and inspiration. The First-Grade children used simple lines and colours to capture childhood innocence. Grade 2 and Grade 3 students showcased their unique pallet and creativity through various drawing techniques. Meanwhile, Grade 4 and Grade 5 students presented more developed works, with each painting shining like a twinkling star in the night sky, lifting the hearts of all who viewed them.

Teachers and Students on Stage:
A Harmonious Composition
The Artistic Performing Corner talent show served as both a stage for students and a showcase for teachers. Hosted by art teachers Becky Shi and Carl Louis Hager, the event was full of energy. At the conclusion of the talent show, our school’s Nightingales Choir and the music team presented two delightful performances. In the first performance, the choir, accompanied by the teachers, delivered the choral piece “Hot Chocolate.” This piece was conducted by Erika Cardona, with Dmytro Sukhov on piano, Manuel Lamberti on violin, and percussion accompaniment by Stella Xu, Grace Yin, and Mia Xie. Their performances not only highlighted the allure of music but also conveyed the rhythmic power of art. The children of the Nightingales Choir also sang “Diary for Mom and Dad,” expressing their love and gratitude to their parents with clear voices and heartfelt emotions.

The Power of Art:
The Warmth of the Campus

The Artistic Performing Corner is a time and space for conveying the power of art. Here, students share their creativity and passion through performances and presentations. The vibrant notes in the music or the smudged colours in the artwork express the student’s enthusiasm for creativity. Through such activities, we aim to stimulate students’ interest in art, confidence in expressing themselves, and encourage them to continue to explore and grow on the road of artistic expression.
