A Year of Grit, Gears, and Glory — The RAXCHS Story
In the world of robotics, it’s not just machines that are built. It’s dreams. It’s perseverance. It’s the grit to go beyond what seemed possible. Over the course of a single academic year, the SUIS Qingpu VEX Robotics Team, proudly known as RAXCHS 92269A, has rocketed from humble beginnings to international stardom. This was more than just building robots—this was about building a legacy.
Six Competitions, One Team, Limitless Passion
The RAXCHS team dove headfirst into six high-level VEX Robotics competitions, spanning across cities and countries:
The team’s debut competition, filled with excitement and nervous energy. Despite being new to the VEX competition scene, RAXCHS made an impressive entrance.
We didn’t finish where we had hoped, but the team showed tremendous resilience and made it all the way to the finals, competing fiercely with the best.
The team secured Third Place, a remarkable feat in this prestigious international tournament, showing off their technical prowess and teamwork.
Wuxi International Robotics Challenge
Competing on a global stage, RAXCHS made it to the Top 10 out of 100+ teams from all around the world, solidifying their reputation.
Thailand Invitational, Bangkok
While we didn’t take home the top prize, RAXCHS held strong and finished among the top 12 teams, competing alongside top talent in Asia.
In this intense event, RAXCHS finished in the Top 6, and the team was awarded the Sportsmanship Award for displaying exceptional character, teamwork, and ethics throughout the competition.
“From zero to global stage, our students showcased true innovation, engineering, and international sportsmanship.” — Coach Mr. Sushil Lamba
Team Leader, Programmer & Builder
“When I first became a team member in RAXCHS, I knew almost nothing, but I gradually got to know new knowledge about structure and coding throughout the year. Every Saturday, I attend training to refine our robot, improve the accuracy of the code, and develop better strategies. At first, everything felt challenging, but by learning from each other and exploring the resources, I slowly became a little more confident. Moreover, competing in six tournaments has shown me the value of teamwork, problem-solving, and staying calm under pressure. There are times when things go wrong during competitions, but I’ve learned to stay focused and work with my team to find solutions. Even when we don’t win, we treat our mistakes as lessons to improve for the next event. Through dedication and perseverance, our team has grown stronger, and this journey has helped me become a better leader while fueling my passion for robotics.”
Chanabhumi (Chita) Putthapornmongkol
(Lead Driver, Programmer & Builder)
“I joined the VEX competition last year. At first, I had no idea what a robotics competition was, but it sounded interesting, so I decided to join the team. Once I joined, I experienced many unexpected and exciting things. This competition taught me valuable skills like building robot structures and programming. But it didn’t stop there—it also helped me improve my communication, make faster decisions, and learn how to share and adapt ideas with others. VEX Robotics was my first international competition, and it gave me the chance to meet people from different countries and backgrounds. It was a really great experience.”
Part-time Driver & Builder
“I’m Henry. I joined RAXCHS VEX Robotics in July 2024 when the team was first set up. I work as the robot driver and also help with building the robot. Designing and practicing can be tiring, but I’ve learned so much about resilience and patience by working closely with my teammates. We placed 30th in the Shanghai competition, won second prize in Beijing, and were disqualified in the quarterfinals in Thailand. These ups and downs have helped me grow a lot as a person and a team player.”
“Through the VEX competitions, I gained invaluable experience and skills. I had the opportunity to learn more about robotics and even build a robot myself. The challenge of connecting the components to the brain of our robot and coding its program was an exciting learning curve. This experience helped me better understand how a robot operates. I also had the chance to meet and connect with people from all over the world who share the same passion for robotics and computer science.”
“I’m incredibly proud of what the team has achieved. Every single student worked tirelessly to push the limits of what they could do. This wasn’t all just about robotics; it was about helping them understand deeply the importance of collaboration, innovation, and resilience. They are more than ready for whatever the future holds.”
Ready for the Next Adventure
The success of RAXCHS 92269A in these competitions is just the beginning. We are excited to announce that we will soon be recruiting for the next VEX Robotics competition season—this will be an incredible opportunity for students who want to be part of something big!
