Remember that recent movie frenzy created just for us by our Grade 10 students and teachers? As exam season approaches, our amazing teachers treated us to a special movie night – giving us a much-needed break and a chance to unwind before diving into revision mode.

Delicious Feast

Right after the CCA session on 2 April, students gathered at the Qinglong and Baihu Theatres. Outside the venues, the tea break area was beautifully set up, with delicious aromas already filling the air. Crispy golden fries were stacked high, freshly stir-fried noodles and rice steamed invitingly. Laughter echoed as students selected colourful jelly treats from the dessert table. Sipping fizzy drinks and enjoying crunchy chicken bites, everyone mingled and chatted, adding a warm, cheerful vibe to the movie night that was about to begin.

The Bad Genius – The Choice of Growth
Packed with nerve-racking twists and brilliant mind games, The Bad Genius stood out as the most intense pick of the night. As the story unfolded, its fast pace and youthful energy kept everyone on the edge of their seats. Between bursts of laughter, the film sparked deeper reflections on rules, integrity, and personal growth – offering a timely reminder for students preparing to step into the exam room.
Big Brother – The Heartbeat of Burning Youth
Blending warmth with intensity, Big Brother delivered a uniquely touching experience. Donnie Yen’s portrayal of a teacher who breaks the mould to help students face challenges left a lasting impression. The heartfelt bond between teacher and students, along with the characters’ pursuit of their dreams, deeply moved the audience – sparking moments of awe and emotional connection throughout the screening.

Youth – An Endless Encore
As starlight sparkled above, this audio-visual journey opened a lyrical escape for us all. Immersed in the magic of films, students found a rare moment to breathe and let go of pre-exam stress. Beyond the stories, the films became reflections of youth itself – we held our breath for the characters’ next moves while quietly absorbing the deeper messages hidden in each frame. When the lights finally came on, the shared smiles, the soft glow in the air, and the lingering scent of salt and pepper snacks became unforgettable snapshots – etched into the darkroom of memory as part of our growing up.

Even as the screen faded to black, the charm of this film festival continued to resonate in our hearts. It reminded us that youth is more than just academics; it is a vibrant tapestry woven with creativity, emotion, and meaningful experiences. We now look forward to the next encounter of light and shadow, ready to keep shaping our own unique montage of youth.
