As the spring breeze gently caressed the earth and warm sunlight bathed the campus, children from SUIS Qingpu’s Primary School embarked on their spring outings, filled with learning and exploration. Each grade immersed themselves in unique activities, discovering the charm of spring and experiencing growth in unexpected ways.
Grade 1: A Magical Encounter with Animals
Grade 1: A Magical Encounter with Animals
Grade One students ventured to the Shanghai Zoo for a whimsical animal adventure. From the moment they entered, the children were captivated by the noble creatures. A majestic gorilla stood tall, prompting excited students to measure their height against it with delightful seriousness. Agile monkeys swung through the trees, giant pandas munched lazily on bamboo, and chubby bears rolled playfully on the ground. The children’s laughter intertwined with the animals’ antics, painting a lively springtime tableau.

Grade 2: Strolling the Bund, Uncovering Urban Heritage
Under clear skies, Grade Two students embarked on a journey titled “Decoding Architectural Secrets” along Shanghai’s Bund. Armed with vintage paintings and photographs as their ‘treasure maps,’ they explored the historic buildings they encountered. Comparing century-old images to the structures before them, students eagerly marked their discoveries on the maps, as if unearthing hidden historical gems. These architectural marvels whispered tales of Shanghai’s cosmopolitan glory from the late 19th to early 20th century.
The outing offered a firsthand look at the city’s iconic landmarks, sparking reflections on history and cultural legacy.
In the afternoon, the children picnicked at Zhongshan Park, where white doves skimmed shimmering lakes. Chattering from merry-go-round rides later echoed through the beautiful blooming gardens.

Grade 3: Brave Adventures at Oriental Land
“Children chase yellow butterflies, lost amid flaxen flowers.”
Our lucky Grade Three students embraced spring adventures at Oriental Land. Transforming into little warriors, they tackled a “Path of Courage” featuring wobbly rope bridges and towering balance beams. Some crawled carefully, others dashed boldly forward, with friends cheering, “Grab my hand! I’ll pull you up!”
The honeycomb climbing zone became their playground, as they scrambled through hexagonal nets like nimble spiders. Lunchtime brought shared snacks and contagious laughter on colourful picnic mats.

Grade 4: Exploring the Plant Kingdom
Grade Four students delved into the mysteries of botany at the Chenshan Botanical Garden.
Amid spring blooms and towering trees, expert guides brought textbook knowledge to life.
Students learned about cherry blossoms’ pollination, succulent cacti’s adaptations, aquatic plants’ ‘breathing’ mechanisms, and climbing vines’ growth strategies. Observing leaf veins, flower structures, and soil variations turned theory into tangible nature lessons.

Grade 5: Joyful Escapades in Gongqing Forest Park
Hand in hand, Grade Five students entered Gongqing Forest Park as ‘nature detectives’. They touched velvety new leaves, inhaled floral scents, and listened intently to birdsong.
The playground erupted with energy: pirate ships elicited screams and giggles, bumper cars sparked collision-filled guffaws, and a packed forest train triggered collective “Wows!” through tunnels.
