As spring turns to summer, when all things are flourishing and growing, we are delighted to present the grand opening of the Fifth Art and Technology Festival. After four previous editions, this year’s festival is themed “Ancient Echoes: Discovering the DNA of Pre-14th Century Art.” By deeply intertwining art and technology, and employing innovative advancements such as digital empowerment and AI creation, we build a bridge that spans time and space. Here, children will become decoders of the future, using the keys of modern technology to unlock the aesthetic codes of human civilization before the 14th century. In this marvellous journey where the ancient meets the modern, we ignite the fires of inspiration from traditional culture and innovative thinking.
In the opening ceremony, a diverse celebration of the arts was on display. The music group utilized the artificial intelligence “Aura” to recreate four forms of ancient music. The art group, inspired by Greek mythology, presented the arrival of the “Creator of Knowledge,” accompanied by seven Muses, using graceful dance to interpret the fusion of wisdom and creativity. The dance team from our school performed “Jasmine Blossoms,” symbolising the children blooming in kindness and friendship on campus. The young designers from the fashion team embraced the concept of “Nature’s Symbiosis: A Tale at Your Fingertips,” combining traditional weaving techniques with creative ideas. Their woven creations tell stories of the spirit inherent in all things.
The STEAM group’s scientific show “Air Adventure,” centred on the Bernoulli principle, showcasing awe-inspiring experiments presented by the teachers. The show opened with the “Double Balloon Experiment,” demonstrating fluid mechanics. This was followed by the “Ping Pong Ball Launcher,” which thrilled the audience. The device used high-speed airflow to create a low-pressure area in the tube, generating a pressure difference that expelled the ping pong ball. Children playfully interacted with the experiment, experiencing fluid continuity and the relationship between pressure and flow speed. Finally, a drone formation took to the sky, changing shapes with a keen sense of technological flair. The spectacular performance not only provided a visual feast but also ignited the children’s passion for exploring future technologies, programming, and AI.

Upon entering the hall, you are greeted by artwork themed around the vast universe, where children have used colourful clay and collages to illustrate their imaginative visions of extraterrestrial life. A three-dimensional scene of migrating birds flying north highlights the beauty of nature from an aerial viewpoint, showcasing the boundless creativity of Grade One students.
In the Grade Two exhibition area, the vibrant colours of traditional tie-dye fabrics resemble dreamlike clouds; the crystalline insect amber captures the lively spirit of nature, while the black vinyl record covers brim with childlike whimsy. The Cambridge class’s fluorescent starry night paintings shimmer under black lights, and their micro-collage art unveils hidden worlds. Creative robots crafted from recycled materials reflect the fusion of art and technology.
Grade Three’s pixel art recreates classic Mario Bros.™ scenes, and the cardboard-painted vases feature exquisite patterns. Meanwhile, the Grade Four students attended a shadow puppet lecture in the theatre, gaining deep insights into the history and techniques of this traditional art form. They will soon embark on their shadow puppet projects and deliver a stunning shadow play performance at the closing ceremony.
Grade Five students used woodcut prints to capture moments of their growth, and their “Outer Space Plant Laboratory” installations cleverly blend environmental concepts with sci-fi imagination. Each piece reflected the children’s thoughtful artistic ideas.

Through the merging of art and technology, this festival promises a journey of discovery filled with surprises.
