As the warm breezes of summer approach, the Primary School’s Artistic Performing Corner (APC) becomes a vibrant hub of creativity and expression. This year, the focus was on the vibrant theme of “Cultural Tapestry,” where young performers weave together threads of music and art to create a stunning mosaic of diverse heritage and imagination.
The Performing Corner has always been a place where children explore and express their artistic prowess. With summer around the corner, a kaleidoscope of performances awaits, showcasing the extraordinary talents of budding musicians and artists.
Music Performances:
A Symphony of Voices and Instruments
The music segment showcased both solo performances and collaborative ensembles, emphasising the harmony found within diversity. Children and teachers have spent weeks honing their skills, and their dedication culminates in these mesmerising performances.
Traditionally, two special performances are featured in the show. The concert opens with the school’s student orchestra playing the heartfelt piece “My Motherland.” The closing performance is the soulful song “Shenandoah,” performed by the parent-teacher choir. “Shenandoah” originates from an indigenous North American language and translates to “Beautiful Daughter of the Stars.” According to legend, Shenandoah was once a great lake nestled in the mountains of Virginia.
Art Shows:
Capturing Summer’s Spirit Through Imagery
Complementing the musical performances, the art shows at the Artistic Performing Corners offer visual delights that capture the essence of each student’s perception of the world around them. Participants reflect on their experiences, emotions, and heritage through their artworks, which are displayed for audiences to admire and interpret.
