Last week’s high school assembly, under the arrangement of the Xiehe Alumni Association, we invited Jacky Jiang from our 2020 class to give a lecture.
Jacky shared the theme of “Balance between academics and entertainment”. The topic of how to balance study and life is one of the most concerned issues for high school students. Now, our Grade 10 students is sharing their thoughts.

Jacky’s sharing with us was an interesting and practical experience. He first introduced the importance of the balance between entertainment and academics throughout the high school process. He explained that high school life can also be enjoyed, as well as how to combine work and rest, and the most useful way to balance work and rest is time management; this is very important for all high school students. Time is the basis for changing everything; learning to handle time properly is the key to success in high school and life in the future. Towards the end of his speech, he used his personal experience to explain that the result of the entire application may not be the dream school you originally wanted, but it does not determine whether your result is good or bad. A change in your plan may also bring good results. This experience enlightened all students and was proved to be a very important point for all preparations or students who are applying. Finally, he taught us to adjust our mentalities and learn to be willing to accept all the results that may happen soon.
Jerry DENG：
I have learnt lots of useful information from the alumni’s sharing, which includes every aspect that would influence my future plan.He talked about being keen on something is the start of everything. He likes playing basketball while keeps developing the habit, and finally he became a basketball coach. The business program led by him is also the result of passion drive. But, for me, it might be hard to stuck to one thing and make ongoing program. Thus, I hope I can develop my love in school and give back this passion to my friends and families.He also mentioned the importance of time management. He is also ordinary people with same habit as us, such as, playing video games and watching shows. However, he has really specific time arrangement. Especially during harsh time, he exercised himself by deleting apps, relocating the phone, and finally achieved being more efficient. Is is the skill that I lack of. As Grade 11 approaches, being able to manage time becomes extremely important. The way the alumni talked about inspires me a lot, and motivates me to realise my dream.
